Este pequeño pájaro insectívoro (Certhia brachydactyla) es una especie sedentaria y nidificante de costumbres forestales, que ocupa cualquier tipo de bosque (inicialmente salvo los monocultivos a mayor altitud). Su críptico plumaje le hace pasar frecuentemente inadvertido, aunque su movilidad gateando por los troncos lo suele delatar.
