Escribano soteño
Emberiza cirlus es una especie nidificante y común, sobre todo en la base y media montaña, alcanzando ya más escasamente los 2.000 m de altitud -aunque se le puede observar un poco más arriba aún-, sobre todo en los bordes de pinares y espinales. Es por ello una especie en buena parte forestal, que vive también en bordes de ribera de ríos y arroyos y cultivos con arbolado disperso, rehuyendo zonas xéricas sin arbolado. En la imagen, una hembra sobre un majoleto (Crataegus monogyna), en el valle del río Dúrcal, a 1.700 m de altitud (noviembre 2024).Emberiza cirlus is a common nesting species, especially at the base and mid-mountain, rarely reaching altitudes of 2,000 m - although it can be seen a little higher still -, especially on the edges of pine forests and thorn forests. It is therefore a largely forest species, which also lives on the edges of river and stream banks and crops with scattered trees, avoiding xeric areas without trees.
