Amapola de Sierra Nevada

La "amapola del Mulhacén" (Papaver lapeyrousianum) es una especie en peligro de extinción que de manera absolutamente puntual y a gran altitud aún podemos encontrar en Sierra Nevada, como clara consecuencia del efecto de las glaciaciones. Este endemismo también se encuentra en los esquistos de ciertas zonas de Pirineos, pero es en nuestra montaña granadina donde está amenazado por diversas causas: cambio climático (que la haría extinguirse al caerse "por arriba", al no poder subir más en altitud) e ingesta y nitrificación por parte de herbívoros (cabra montés y ganado doméstico), sin olvidar el pisoteo e incluso la recolección por parte de los excursionistas que acceden a la citada cumbre (julio 2013).
The "Mulhacén poppy" (Papaver lapeyrousianum) is a species in danger of extinction that we can still find in Sierra Nevada in an absolutely punctual manner and at high altitude, as a clear consequence of the effect of the glaciations. This endemism is also found in the schists of certain areas of the Pyrenees, but it is in our mountains of Granada where it is threatened for various reasons: climate change (which would cause it to become extinct when it falls "from above", as it cannot climb any higher in altitude) and ingestion and nitrification by herbivores (mountain goats and domestic cattle), without forgetting trampling and even collection by hikers who access the aforementioned summit (July 2013).
