The Sierra Nevada violet (Viola crassiuscula) is an exclusive species of this mountain and typical of its "cascajares" (gravels), made up of huge amounts of slabs (rock type stones, mostly mycaschists) that stand out for their mobility due to gravity. Precisely these movements get to section the weak stems of the plant, which instead has a woody strain and which can produce these vegetative parts again. It is therefore a characteristic adaptation of this species to the selective environment where it lives. Veleta slope, 3,150 m altitude (July 2018).
